Mahmoud's year reflection

My year in grade 5...
In my year I have had my ups and downs. I have made friends, I have learned how to be a better student\friend. I have become friends with my teacher. [she is the best in the world and taught me the well and I have become a better learner] I am at the top of the food chain this year next year I will be at the bottom of the food chain. its been a tough run but, my break is near then I will start running.
"Did  your math  map testing improve through out the year" yes I have improved through out all my years. This year I got a 240 which is a score that can let me take blue math in 6th grade!  I improved by 31 points! I also improved higher than everyone in the class in all my map test.    "which subject did you feel you enjoy learning it and why" [ bad grammar] I enjoyed social studies\ History because I love learning about things that happened because you learn more about countries city communities groups ect..
"Did you stop distracting your class mates by laughing and talking a lot" I have worked on it I don't do it when there is important work which is all our work and when I do I stop so its not constant but it hasn't 100% stopped.

Reading

I used to be level M in reading now I am a faster more accurate reader I am currently level T 7 levels better. I did post-it and long write but now I am able to write long long writes and post- it well. I use all my information to help my topic on the post-it.

Writing

I used to write bad with bad printing.I still have bad printing but more and more people can read and understand it. Punctuation, I started not putting punctuation in because I thought it was a waste of time, this year I perfected my punctuation and its proven to help readers to understand your work. I was never good at spelling... Intel I wrote more and memorized the words.

Math

Math isn't my favorite subject or my best. Now I am so good I get my problem sets and homework all correct. I make mistakes but I learn from them all the time thats why I am getting better and better.

Science

I didn't like science that much but we got to do experiments and it was fun. I don't have much to write because I did not enjoy it a lot

Social Studies

I enjoyed Social Studies because I loved history it runs in the family. What made me really like history is the true events and how it affects the present. For example if america didn't take a stand for independence it would be apart of the British empire.

Citizenship-CORE Values

The core values to me to be honest is just respect, courage and responsibility. I think those are the most important.

Most challenging

the math tests are hard for me because I need to use all I know to pass and I usually don't
get the best score ever  but I got much better.

Most Enjoyable

when we were on a field trip and I had my headphones on and I couldn't hear, then a slight momo momo momo  I took my headphones off and the whole bus were cheering my name and I laughed with the class.

Most Proud Of

when I got a 240 on my math test and I got the most points getting better. so I can be smarter and be a better learner. I am also a better reader and socialize more.

Most Growth

I grew the most in math and reading which I am proud about.

4 Corner Activity Reflection by Mahmoud El Banna

Science has only brought positive benefits to everyone. I believe that science was cruel but when I realized that they develop a lot of things to benefit earth and us I supported science.

Technology is everywhere in the world. this is true because every country has at least a peace of Technology.

Boys are better at Science than girls. i am against this 100 percent girls can do the same if not better than boys in science and more.

the Internet has made the world smaller I don't believe this because the internet connects more people together.

Animal testing is necessary. yes because someone animals can help humanity and if we take DNA we could clone them if they go extinct or before extinct

Climate change is caused by people. YES we have ruined this planet with smoking and burning green house gasses

Technology has negatively affected close family time. yes but the family should say ok family time.

Students should not be allowed to use personal digital devices at school. they should because if their is a emergency they will call for help they could help themselves learn more,
-Should all cars now be electric. yes we have technology and it would take global worming down a lot

rapid v.s slow process erosion

rapid process erosion means a process of erosion that is quick.
slow process erosion is when a erosion happens over a lot of timeThe surface of the earth changes. Some changes are due to slow processes, such as erosion and weathering, and some changes are due to rapid processes, such as landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. weathering is a process that often acts along with erosion to help shape Earth's surface. Physical weathering is when rock is broken down through Earth's natural processes. An example of physical weathering is when water seeps into the cracks of rocks, freezes into ice, and therefore expands forcing the rock to break.

Final Reflections

This unit had a lot of info that I did not know. I learned all about erosions. water erosion is when water interacts with soil and makes a valley, this is made from soil getting pushed from water and at the end settles their.
wind erosion is when wind pushes sand or dirt to places like when wind blows so hard and sand goes in your eye thats wind erosion but the sand all goes to one place.

Chemical weathering is what happens when rocks are broken down and chemically altered. Learn about the different types of chemical weathering, including hydrolysis, oxidation, carbonation, acid rain and acids produced by lichens.

cool careers

Geochemists study the composition, structure, processes, and other physical aspects of the Earth. They examine the distribution of chemical elements in rocks and minerals, as well as the movement of these elements into soil and water systems.

geophysicist is someone who studies the Earth using gravity, magnetic, electrical, and seismic methods. Some geophysicists spend most of their time outdoors studying various features of the Earth, and others spend most of their time indoors using computers for modeling and calculations

Geology is the study of the Earth. ... Marine Geology focuses these studies in areas affected by our oceans. These are the deep ocean floor, the shallower slopes and shelves that surround the continents, and especially the coasts which include beaches, estuaries, rivers, and large lakes.

Experiment one: wind erosion

question: what happens if the wind goes over a forest?

hypothesis: some things will move and get replaced.

Materials sand, tub, wooden wedge,,straw , wind gun.

Wadi Trip

The windy wadi in wadi Degla the sand hits our eye while the scorching hot sun is blazing on us the sun is pulling the sweat out of our body. The rocky terrain was balancing. I being dumb I fell 4 times cracked my phone and the last time I fell down on a step hill more on that later. the long walk was tiring enough we sat and ate then listened to mr.bill but, I am proud because I ran from the back of the line to were mr. green [as other people call him mr. O'sullivan] was I made it to the top of the line and then we sat down to eat. After we ate we sat for a hour and listened about rocks and chemicals and lime. When he was done we had 30 minutes of free time to run around but not to far or to high up. after that we went on a hike and i fell and cracked my phone but I fell again and I almost died. I fell and my hands were occupied I was dangiling off a hight of a couple hundred meters up aly el abd my best brother held me up and that was that I was still alive and we left. I DID HAVE A LOT OF FUN!

Mechanical And Chemical Erosion

Intro: Erosion, removal of surface material from Earth’s crust, primarily soil and rockdebris, and the transportation of the eroded materials by natural agencies (such as water or wind) from the point of removal.
erosion

beach erosion

Water: when water is on soil and the water moves the water takes the soil down with it and create a path and it makes a valley. All the soil is taken down with the water intel the water stops.
Glacial: Glacial erosion occurs in two principal ways: through the abrasion of surface materials as the ice grinds over the ground (much of the abrasive action being attributable to the debris embedded in the ice along its base); and by the quarrying or plucking of rock from the glacier bed. The eroded material is transported until it is deposited or until the glacier melts.

Reality Experience

The Experience was great we went on a journey to Victoria falls it was beautiful and there was a devils pool where daring people that are adventures swim in. then there was a grand canyon and there were people on a boat and getting hit left and right it was a nice experience but I only like scary 360 v.r videos.

water erosion

Question - What happens if 2 streams come together at the same time one with the big hole and one with the big hole?
Hypothesis - i think that the streams are going to meet.
Materials - sand, tub, wooden wedge, water, 2 cups, a bucket.

APL QUOTE

"Don't raise your voice improve your argument" by Desmond tutu
What I think of that quote is that you should not raise your voice but you should argue in a calm way like know a lot of what your talking about so you can improve on your argument on a statement said by you or a fellow companion. I like this quote because it proves you shouldn't higher your voice  just know what your talking about

Experiment two: deposition

Question: what happens to the land that gets eroded

Hypothesis: the land will have a second layer on top of the original layer

Materials: plastic cup, water, sand [fine sand and hard sand] ruler, clay, tray a big contaner

Procesure: water was dropped into the sand and it started digging down and made a hole more water was pored and then it started going down and creating a stream

Observation: water was dropped into the sand and it started digging down and made a hole more water was pored and then it started going down and creating a stream

experiment one: water erosion

Question: What happens to land when water flows over it.

Hypothesis: the water will cary the soil  down in the stream that it is going in. And indent the soil.

Essential question

How do plants and animals adapt to survive in their environment?

plants and animals adapt to survive in their environment by looking at their kind and living in their environment for a long time. Example: If I live in a districted for a long time I would
be able to know oh this is here and that is their.
they are able to get food and water by their family they would think oh my dad gets food from here and my mom gets water from here so they start to memorize were he\she gets the food and water and whatever from.

Mahmoud as a science

My favorite topic in science is Bio-logy because it was fun learning about biomes and that I got to learn about the rainforest. The demo project was nice we got to use our info and skills and show students, teachers and parents our work. chemistry because I want to find out what and what make what. a scientist that gets to learn and study biomes and animals. that I like to learn about animals and do not give up easily. get more info about the rainforest than animal. science is important because when we grow up we know about biology and animals. I do like experiments because it is your idea that you are thinking of and the experiments help prove your idea.

Indian and Islamic Culture by Mahmoud

my reflection I think that I did a good job gathering the information bit by bit it was hard but I think that I could have showed the information in a better way.
